Dji vou veu volti wins in Brussels
11 juni 2007
The 3D computer animated short ‘Dji Vou Veu Volti’ by Benoit Feroumont has won ‘Le Prix de la Critique’ (the Critics’ Award) at the Brussels Short Film Festival 2007, where it was screened for the very first time. This 13 minute short is in the official selection for the Annecy Animation Film Festival.
Feroumont (°1969), who previously worked on Belleville Rendez-Vous (Sylvain Chomet) and made the trailer for Annecy 2003, calls Dji Vou Veu Volti ‘an animated light opera’. It tells the story of a troubadour that plays a love song for his beloved princess. Dji Vou Veu Volti is a sentence in Liège dialect, which literally means ‘I see you with pleasure’. In other words, it is a very galant way to say ‘I love you’, as the subtitles point out… over and over, until they have had enough…
Dji Vou Veu Volti is a co-production between Walking The Dog, La Parti Production and Monsieur Albert. The original music was made by Johan De Smet. Theatrical release is expected in Spring or Summer 2008.
